So, let’s talk about the Fortune Auto Generation 6 Internal Floating Piston. If you’re serious about your ride, this is one piece of gear you’ll want to check out. They’ve managed to shave off some serious weight from the previous models, which is a big deal when you’re looking for that quick response to shock forces. The low-drag Teflon band is a game changer—it cuts down on stiction, meaning your damper can react way faster when you hit those bumps or dips.
Now, the Fortune Auto 500 series damper shaft seals are another highlight. They’ve got 40% less drag compared to earlier models, which translates to less hysteresis. What does that mean for you? Better control of your inputs. These seals are made from a specially formulated Buna rubber compound, striking that sweet spot between reliability and performance. It’s the shaft seal that really matters here, and a stronger seal means a noticeable boost in quality and performance.
Let’s dive into the shims for a second. These little deflection disks are crucial—they cover the port holes on the piston and regulate fluid flow, which is what generates the force in your damper. When it comes to "valving" or "re-valving," you’ll be using various shims to get just the right amount of resistance for your specific setup. It’s crazy how a tiny variation in shim diameter or thickness can change the damper’s force profile by up to 25%. That’s why consistency is key, and the Generation 6 dampers use high-grade shim material made from Sandvik steel to ensure everything is perfectly matched.
On the aesthetics side, the bright dip anodizing process does wonders for the aluminum. It not only gives it a shiny finish but also protects those 6061 forged aluminum parts from corrosion and oxidation. You want your parts looking fresh for years, right? Plus, the revised jetting and expanded adjustment range mean you can fine-tune your damper control. Each click in the adjustment range has a real impact on dampening force, and you’ll hear it too—each click is distinct.
Now, let’s talk about the piston shafts. Finding the right balance between hardness and malleability can be tricky, but Fortune Auto nailed it after extensive R&D. Their in-house engineers have also reinforced brackets and mounting points, giving you more rigidity and strength. Most setups come with OEM brake line tabs welded to the lower mounts, making installation cleaner and safer.
And if you’re into performance, the digressive piston technology is worth mentioning. It allows for significant low-speed force, translating your inputs into precise control while still offering a smooth ride over rough terrain. It’s all about that balance between grip and comfort.

Fortune Auto ManufacturingFortune Auto is one of the few U.S.-based suspension companies that actually inspect, assemble and service shocks right here in the USA. It is the only company that offers this on height/damping adjustable Coilovers at its price point. Fortune Auto’s shock assembly and service center use multiple state-of-the-art Roehrig 2VS shock dynos that help it calibrate and match new shocks before shipping them out. Fortune Auto also utilizes the dyno for extensive testing and research purposes. The expansive Virginia facility gives the company the ability to prototype and test new applications and products before they go into production.
It’s important to reiterate that Fortune Auto not only designs and builds suspension parts, but tests it in the harshest of environments – the race track. Its entire product lineup has been rigorously tested and refined on Fortune Auto’s race cars. This allows the company to determine what works in the real world and what ultimately does not. Moreover, Fortune Auto learns what is effective and how to adjust its products to gain maximum results.
